8-digit unique identification number mandatory for directors of companies in India under Companies Act 2013.

Who Needs DIN?

  • Proposed directors of Pvt Ltd, Public Company, OPC
  • Foreign nationals as directors of Indian companies
  • LLP designated partners need DPIN, not DIN

How to Apply

  1. Applied as part of company incorporation via SPICe+ form
  2. For existing companies adding new director, file Form DIR-3
  3. Submit PAN, Aadhaar, photo and identity proof
  4. DIN allotted within 1 working day

Annual DIN KYC -- DIR-3 KYC

  • File annually by September 30
  • Update mobile number and email via OTP
  • Late filing fee: Rs.5,000 after September 30
  • DIN deactivated if KYC not done

DIN Surrender

File Form DIR-5. Must not be a director of any active company at time of surrender.
