What is ESIC?

Employees' State Insurance Corporation provides medical, maternity, disability and death benefits. Mandatory for eligible establishments.

Who Must Register?

  • Establishments with 10 or more employees
  • Employees earning up to Rs.21,000/month
  • Applicable to factories, shops, restaurants, hotels, educational institutions

ESIC Contribution Rates

  • Employer: 3.25% of gross wages
  • Employee: 0.75% of gross wages
  • Total: 4% of gross wages

ESIC Benefits for Employees

  • Free medical treatment at ESIC hospitals
  • Sickness benefit: 70% wages for 91 days
  • Maternity benefit: full wages for 26 weeks
  • Permanent disability benefit: 90% wages

Registration Process

  1. Register at esic.gov.in employer portal
  2. Fill establishment and employee details
  3. Get 17-digit ESIC code
  4. Pay monthly challan by 15th of next month
